seek the streets
day in day out
shoe leather popping
movement tempo rhythm never stopping
this is the waltz of the city
the dance of the light as it moves between tall buildings
asphalt pounding under the rays of a weakening sun
street lights winking into life
like the tired eyes of a day just begun
and life goes on
around
up and down
sometimes its real like a dream is real
it passes by it passes by
like a breeze in search of sweet containment

seek the street
the path home
is the path most traveled
it has the steepest incline
and as gravitas turns to ivory,
as darkness becomes indifference,
as stark indivisibility becomes
odd moments
hold tight
to that
loosening heart
and listen closely to it’s whispers
carry light in your pocket
and cultivate a quickening mind
the weight of people watching people
of cars speeding by
it drains the heart
of lucidity
and leaves the soul stranded
on the edge of the half imagined reality

Seek the streets
they say there’s a way out of everywhere eventually secret corners
hidden behind abstruse words
hidden behind distractable conversation
When I was young I dreamed mountains
in search of stars
but now I am older
I feel breathless
at the memory of it
On the streets
bright copper dulls under neon light
and as the heat of the day settles
it can feel for a moment
like all that is lost is found
and everything that was good
is possible again
and here on the streets reaching into the light of days
one might wonder how time disappears
